Corrosion Resistance of CoCrFeNiMn High Entropy Alloy Coating Prepared through Plasma Transfer Arc Claddings

High entropy alloy attracts great attention for its high thermal stability and corrosion resistance. A CoCrFeNiMn high-entropy coating was deposited on grey cast iron through plasma transfer arc cladding. It formed fine acicular martensite near the iron, with columnar grains perpendicular to interface between substrate cladding layer as well dendrite in middle part of coatings. Simple FCC solid solutions present coatings which were similar powder’s structure. The had a microhardness 300 ± 21.5 HV0.2 when current 80 solution strengthening. HEA highest potential −0.253 V 60 A, much higher than iron’s −0.708 V. Meanwhile, lower density 9.075 × 10−7 mA/cm2 2.4825 10−6 mA/cm2, reflected that better resistance rate single phase relatively concentration Cr grain boundaries this could lead protection effects.
